Re-reading an editorial from the Chicago Tribune (January 11, 2016)…a call for us to reconsider using sophisticated, rich words in place of simple terms. Simple words bring us clarity, precision of meaning to what the purpose of the writing is intended.  Its nice to show off your extensive vocabulary, but what good is it if the reader/listener doesn’t understand what you are saying?  Bludgeoning your audience with polysyllabic words can result in nobody reading/listening to your message.  Understatement can be more powerful than overstatement!
